In my paintings, I attempted to capture the vibe of Newari culture’s festival and heritage through different vibrant colours. The patches, swiping lines and strokes represent the movement and emotions of the ceremony of Jatras in the painting. The chariots, chants and temples create a different environment. I have depicted the norms, values, people, morals and crowds that I have been encountering and experiencing in my paintings. As we all are aware of the rich culture and heritage of our country, we also need to understand the continuance of our legacy. I am always mesmerized by Jatras. Therefore, as an artist and also a part of the Newari community, I use the significance of colours in expressing the mood, disposition and my part in the contribution.
